Haven't heard of these before???
This is the special recipe of my  brother's wife, who is really really an expert in such burfis, and is a very good  cook too. You can give her  any ingredients, and......  like a great sculptor, creating  beautiful statues with crude, various sized stones, she will cook up some burfi or sweet with her incredible skills!!!
It gives me immense pleasure to share this wonderful recipe with you all.
Happy Deepavali to you all!!! Like the row of lamps, which brighten our lives during Deepavali, let the row of these burfis, sweeten our lives too!!!

Ingredients
Sweetened condensed milk - 1 tin
Maida / all purpose flour - 1/2 cup, slightly heaped
Sugar - 1 1/2 cups
Bournvita - 3/4 cup
Butter - 1 cup (2 strips in the US)
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp

Recipe Cuisine:  Indian; Category: Dessert
Prep time:  nil; Cooking time: 20 - 25 mts

Yields 60 burfis

All ingredients put in a heavy non stick pan. Always non stick pans work the best for these burfis.

Flames kept on medium, butter slowly starts melting. Constant stirring is required.

After 5 minutes

Slowly thickening...this photo is after 10 minutes

becoming frothy at the corners, about to leave sides

Done. Normally, this consistency is reached between 20 - 25 minutes. Don't over stir. Then the burfis will become very hard and brittle.

Transferred into a greased tray, and levelled with a flat bottomed , greased bowl.

Allow to cool down for 15 minutes, touch and see, the top will start becoming slightly stiff. At this point, cut the burfis, into squares or diamonds, whatever you want.

Leave them alone to set, remember Shri Sai baba's words....Shraddha and Saburi....Your perseverance will result in good fruits, but you have to be patient too.

Stun your guests with these exotic burfis!!!

HAPPY DEEPAVALI once again!!!!

Notes
* All the cup measurements mentioned here, and anywhere in my blog, are all standard US Cup measurements.
* You can call this a hassle-free burfi. Even if the required consistency is not reached, it is repairable, will not go waste.
*If it seems to be a bit fudgy and chewy, even  after pouring on to the greased tray, it can be put back into the pan, and stirred for 5 more minutes.
*If it becomes too hard, it can be pulsed in the blender to powder, then add 1/2 cup milk to it, keep on stirring, till the right consistency arrives.
* Bournvita is a malt based drink mixed with Cocoa. So, incase if bournvita is not available, you can use any such drink.
