Buttermilk..........in this sweltering hot summer, when I utter this word...my parched throat becomes chilled, feels quenched....
In the earlier days, buttermilk used to mean the liquid, after churning the butter from the curds/yogurt.
Buttermilk is high in bone-building Calcium, rich in Riboflavin, protein-packed, full of probiotics, helps calm the stomach after a spicy meal, washes down fats, aids in digestion, a great tool against dehydration, gives us good Calcium sans fat, prevents Vitamin deficiency, reduces high blood pressure, brings a good drop in cholesterol level and combats acidity.
In short, Buttermilk known as Chaas in Northern parts of India , must be a default drink in every household, especially during Summer.
Have added some flavor and aroma in this Spicy Buttermilk

Notes
* You can omit green chilli, if you want to.
* A few mint leaves can be added too.
*Many people season this Spicy buttermilk with mustard seeds in oil. I did not have the heart to unnecessarily load this buttermilk with some oil and seasonings. It is optional.
