I need not waste my time or test your patience, telling how this gothsu derived its name.....always, it is served with Ven Pongal in most of the weddings during breakfast. There are many types of Gothsus, but this gothsu is so tasty and delicious and a perfect combo for Ven Pongal, so they both become a part of the Inseparable Combos. Lot of vegetables, little bit of dhal, tomatoes all make this a nutritious Gothsu too.
Split mung dhal - 1/4 cup, soaked for 30 minutes
Big onion - 1, finely chopped
Carrot - 1, finely chopped
Potato - 1, finely chopped after peeling the skin
Green chilly - 1, slit
Curry leaves - handful
Tomatoes - 3, pureed
Tamarind paste - 1 tsp
Sambar powder - 1tsp
Jaggery - 1tsp
Salt to taste
To season
Cooking oil - 3 tsps
Hing powder - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1tsp
Split urad dhal - 1tsp

Then, onion and all vegetables added and sauteed nicely, keeping the flames low

Soaked dhal too enters the pot. Close the lid and cook for 2 - 3 whistles. Lo!! So easily, Kalyana Gothsu is done!!
Gothsu ready!
Serve with hot Ven Pongal
