"Amma, have you tasted the "Real Italian Pizza", asked my daughter. I said 'no'......she got all the necessary ingredients, and headed towards the kitchen. OMG!!!!! I just loved it! I was dumb founded....such a simple pizza, just with 4-5 ingredients...no cheese, no sauce...how can it be so tasty??? You have to make and eat to believe it...
Pizza was invented after the 19th century, it started as fast food on the streets of Naples, the simpler it was, the better; that's how it was....The classic Pizza Napoletana was just dough with tomatoes, virgin olive oil, garlic, basil, salt and little bit of oregano, if you want...
In fact, my daughter omitted even oregano...but it was heavenly...such lovely thin crust, not at all heavy on our stomach, easy to digest, healthy...what a wonderful pizza !!!
You know how the Margherita pizza got that name? When the Queen Margherita came to Naples, she was charmed by a local pizza baker, who had made pizza with the colors of the flag  of the new unified-Italy, red tomatoes, green basil and white mozarella cheese, and from thence, Pizza derived its name Margherita.

Ingredients
Store bought pizza dough - 4 packs
Cherry tomatoes - 2 boxes, washed and cut into halves, drained thoroughly
Garlic - 10 pods, chopped fine
Olive oil - 1/2 cup
Basil leaves - 1 bunch, washed and chopped fine
Salt to taste

Recipe Cuisine: International; Category: Lunch / dinner
Prep time: 15 mts; Baking time: 20 mts per pizza

Yields 4 big pizzas, which can be cut into squares

The 5 simplest ingredients

Mixed well and allowed to marinate for 1/2 hour

Pizza base carefully taken from the wrapper and placed. (Doubt whether such a fresh dough is available in India. We can use the pizza bases, wheat ones or all purpose flour based ones,  available.)

Top it up with generaous filling which we have mixed. Take care to leave the water it would have secreted, and top up.

Placed in the pre heated oven, at 400 degrees F or 230 degrees C

Takes about 15 - 20 minutes to bake.

The divine aroma of basil, olive oil and cheery tomatoes in just unbearable, we feel like devouring the pizza at once

Sprinkle some chilli flakes and serve hot

Can be cut into small wedges and served as starters too.

Notes
* Remember to preserve the water the tomato - basil combo secreted. It can be added to tomato soup. In fact, I made soup the very next day and used up this aromatic water.
* Cherry tomatoes are easily available in India nowadays. Regular tomatoes may not be that good, since they have lot more  seeds.
