Many hesitate to buy Cluster beans, because it has an astringent, bitter taste, but many are not aware of its health benefits, I think. So, I decided to throw light upon. Cluster beans are a great source of protein, fibre and other nutrients. It has lot of iron too, which increases blood circulation. It has low glycemic index, so, good for diabetics. Studies reveal, Cluster beans help to keep our mind calm and composed. Has folic acid too, which is great for expectant mothers. So.....go ahead and make this nutritious curry, combined with the goodness of tur dhal.
Top up the cluster beans with this seasonings.
Ingredients
Cluster beans, finely chopped - 3 cups
Tur dhal - 1/4 cup,
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Grated fresh coconut - 3 tsps
Salt to taste
Sugar - 2 tsps
For seasoning
Cooking oil - 3 tsps
Hing powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Broken urad dhal - 2 tsps
Red chillies - 3 , broken
Curry leaves

Serves 4
In a pan, add about 1 1/2 cups water, add turmeric powder and then add the tur dhal
When dhal reaches this stage( half done)
add the cluster beans too
Say, about 10 minutes later, add sugar
then add salt too.
Add some oil in another pan, add the mentioned seasonings above and add the grated coconut also.
Top up the cluster beans with this seasonings.
Mix it up well.
Serve hot with rice, sambar or rasam.
