This is a very tasty Sundal...does not require over night soaking...but incase you want to, you can. But normally, it is sufficient if you soak channa dhal in hot water for 3-4 hours.
In a pan, add cooking oil, add seasonings mentioned above

Ingredients
Channa dhal - 1/2 cup, soaked in hot water for 3-4 hours, then pressure cooked
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
To season
Cooking oil - 2 tsps
Hing powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds - 3/4 tsp
Green chillies - 4, chopped
Red chillies - 3, broken
Curry leaves
Fresh grated coconut - 3 tsps

Prep time: 5 mts, other than soaking time; Cooking time: 15 mts
Serves 3-4
Pressure cooked channa dhal, with turmeric powder, coconut topped then
In a pan, add cooking oil, add seasonings mentioned above
Now, add the cooled channa dhal, and gently saute. If you season hot channa dhal, it will become mushy.
Notes
*1 tsp of fresh lemon juice can be added, which gives a good flavour to the Sundal.
