Paneer, which is a very versatile dish is used for various dishes...it is used raw, fried, sauteed, barbequed, grilled, and paneer can be called an all-rounder. To my knowledge, many love paneer in any form. To vegetarians, it is a powerhouse of protein, has loads of calcium, prevents deadly diseases, and all said and done, it is very tasty too. Paneer, combined with whole wheat, such a healthy and tasty combination.
Ingredients
Whole wheat flour - 3/4 cup
Crumbled paneer - 3/4 cup
Red chilli powder - 3/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Kasoori methi, crushed - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 3/4 tsp
Jeera powder - 3/4 tsp
Ajwain / Carom seeds - 3/4 tsp
Cooking oil / ghee / olive oil spray for cooking the chapathies
Recipe Cuisine: North Indian; Category: Lunch / Dinner
Prep time: 10 mts; Cooking time: 10-15 mts
Yields 7 rotis
All the above mentioned ingredients, ready to be kneaded. I made fresh paneer at home, using 3 % milk. So, it was already crumbled. Incase you are using store bought slab paneer, you can bring it to room temperature and grate it.
Dough allowed to rest for 1 hour, then balls pinched from the dough.
Using a non stick tava, first dry roast the chapathies on both sides.
Then, drizzle few drops of oil / ghee or olive oil spray, whatever you want to use, and cook till done.
Serve with simple moong dhal or red lobia dhal or, even a pickle of your choice and a bowl of fresh curds are more than enough for these very tasty rotis.
