Here is a Salem Special...don't know why this tasty thogayal has this weird name...my mom used to tell me, all the laborers will eat with this kind of thogayal, with rice mixed to it, and they will make them like round balls in their hand and eat...laborers are called vandikkarans, probably.
whatsoever it may be...it is a very tasty thogayal, and when it is mixed with rice, with a dash of ghee...whoa..whoa..it is amazing...
Down below, you see the thogayal, perched on top of a cup of broken matta rice, along with
 lemon rasam  and keerai sundal curry...

Ingredients
Fresh grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Green chilli - 1
A small piece of solid hing
Ghee - 2 tsps
Tamarind paste - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

Prep time: 5 mts; Cooking time: 5 mts

Serves 2

Heat ghee in a pan, add the small piece of solid hing, and wait till it becomes big and well roasted


Switch off the stove, add the green chilli, and give it a quick saute.


Load the blender jar with coconut, tamarind paste, green chilli, roasted hing and salt to taste  


and grind to a fine paste
